Why is it that some parents seem to feel that it’s alright to let their children roam the streets . I mean, i’m not talking about teenagers here. I am talking about 6 and 7 year olds. You see, where I live, there is a road directly across the street from me which has public housing units. A few months ago, several new families have moved into the units . This used to be a somewhat quiet neighbour hood until recently.

Don’t get me wrong, I love kids. Always have. But when I see them destroying property, it just ticks me off. You see , there is a house right next door to me that is vacant. It has been vacant since we moved here. However there is a man that checks on it every once in awhile. But in my opinion, it should be tore down.

Anyway, 2 nights ago I was sitting at my pc and I could hear this banging noise. So naturally I went to the window to see what it was. There were about 10 kids playing out on the street. About 4 of them were teenagers and the others ranged from about the ages 6 to 11.

The banging noise I had heard were the kids apparently trying to get in the old house and also they were throwing rocks at the windows. At that point, I went out side and told them they were not supposed to be around that house. After I came back inside, I looked out and there was a police car out there. Apparently one of the neighbours got ticked off as well and phoned the police. In any case, to make a long story short, the police lady went to their house and had a talk with them. Who knows what became of it.

This all took place around 8 pm at night. Those small kids shouldn’t have even been roaming the streets. What are their parents doing. I don’t know what is going on at their houses, But I do know that since these families moved in up there, the police car has been up their at least 3 times.

It’s at the point where I hate to leave the house. I may come back with all of my windows smashed,. Because it’s obvious that their parents don’t care where they are at or what they are doing. In the winter, Terry had a 100.00 ladder stolen from the barn. We don’t know who stole it, but all I know is that we have lived here for almost 6 years, and we never had anything stolen on us until those families moved in up there. The ladder wasn’t even a year old. It’s about time something was done or who knows what those kids will do next.
