A Long Battle !!!!

O.k. I know you have all been waiting for my pics from Rock The Doc. Well unfortunately, you will have to wait another little while.
The past few days, I have been battling with a really bad infection/inflamation. I know it is really bad, but I am scared to go over to the hospital o.p,d . One of the reasons being is that I am scared they will keep me there at least over night .
Hell, I don’t even know if the hospital opd is even open this month. They usually close it for a bit at certain times because of the shortages of doctors around here etc. So to put it plain and simple, you either suffer it out, or die. Not much of a choice is it ?
I am not going to get into detail about the inflamation but all I can say is it is damn well scary. My doctor returns tomorrow after a 2 week vacation. If I don’t get well soon, I will need to visit him to at least get antibiodics. I have been having a struggle just trying to keep my fever under control. Last night it was so severe that I was even scared to go to sleep. I finally went to sleep around 8 am this morning. And Terry didn’t want to go to sleep until I fell asleep because he wanted to keep an eye on me. I stayed up watching tv until 6 am.
Around 7.30 I decided to take an advil to see if I could knock the fever down. In any case, it seemed to have worked for the time being. I do have thermometers here, but I was too damn scared to take my tem. I was terrified at what the results would be.
This summer hasn’t gone too well for me . I am sick of feeling like crap. I am dizzy and disoriented from all the fever etc. Will it ever end and let me get back to normal ? Only time will tell I guess. Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know what was going on. I don’t want any of you to worry but if you could say a prayer for me, it would be deeply appreciated.
I will be back soon hopefully with some better news . Take care all. Lots of huggggs

Colleen my friend, as a friend I strongly suggest you take your temp., if it has been over 100 degrees F. for more than a day I suggest you go to your hospital and get checked. You may have to stay in there till you are cured or at least your temp and infection is under control. I been there done that and I know when it is time to let them make decisions about your health. Please don’t take chances with your health and guess it is going to get better on its own, it may not!!! Terry I hope you are reading this. Colleen, your hurting I know…Go and get medical attention ASAP! Your friend, Mike.

Colleen,

You need to take your temperature whether you are afraid or not. If a temperature goes over 42 degrees Celsius or 107.6 degrees Fahrenheit and stays there for a while it can cause brain damage.
And contrary to popular myths, a fever is not an illness. Far from being an enemy, it is an important part of the body’s defense against infection. Many people develop high fevers with minor viral illnesses.
While a fever signals to us that a battle might be going on in the body, the fever is fighting for the person, not against.
Most bacteria and viruses that cause infections in people thrive best at 37 degrees Celsius or 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Raising the temperature a few degrees can give your body the winning edge. In addition, a fever activates the body’s immune system to make more white blood cells, antibodies, and other infection-fighting agents.
Of course, when your fever reaches 39.44 degrees Celsius or 104 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, you may want to take steps to lower the fever, not knock it out, but lower it, like with aspirin, Tylenol, Advil or something like you did. Also a cool bath, not cold, just slightly cool like about 29.44 degrees Celsius or 85 degrees Fahrenheit can bring temperature down faster than an Advil or an aspirin. You can also bring it down quicker with an alcohol body rub. You take a wash cloth and put isopropyl alcohol on it and sponge the body down. Another thing helps the headaches from fevers is to take a wash cloth and get it wet and then wring it, and put a few cubes of ice in it, and hold it to the back of your neck just under your hairline. It cools the blood going to brain, and this can help you too.
A fever for a few days isn’t bad but actually helpful, however over an extended time period it can signify a serious infection or something else entirely.
Although infections and minor viral illnesses are the most common causes of higher than normal body temperature, fevers have a long list of other causes, including toxins, cancers, and autoimmune diseases.
So take your temperature from now on, and quit being scared, and if it lasts too long or stays too high too long then go to the doctor and try to find out what is going on.
I know you have been really sick lately, Colleen, but avoiding taking your temperature is not going to help you. It will work against you in the long run. The doctor is going to ask how high your fever has been. You can’t help him figure out what’s wrong if you don’t know the answers to the questions he is asking, now can you?
My advice comes from what I learned in nursing school, and while working as a student nurse.
So I am not feeding you a myth but instead just good solid medical advice from one friend to another.
Get well soon. And believe me you are in my prayers.

Hi Colleen, Hey listen to Static okay?…Its great we have someone who knows what to do…(he or she)…I suppose that to put it in a nutshell, its best to go and find out what is going on than to do nothing and not know…You made me happy to have set yourself an appointment, now take your temp often, write it down and go to your appointment like a good girl…hugggggs
